Want to Serve on a Committee?
Committees are how the City Bar’s work gets done, and working on a committee can give you great experience while opening up a number of career doors, including some you might not anticipate. A full list of the City Bar committees along with a brief description of each and an application form can be found on the City Bar’s website. As a number of City Bar committees have more applicants than available slots, please consider applying to more than one committee.

Developing Legal Careers and Delivering Justice
Following more than a year of analysis, the New York City Bar Association’s Task Force on New Lawyers in a Changing Profession released a report recommending fundamental changes in education and career focus for new lawyers. The report urges a stronger effort to match the perceived oversupply of lawyers with the unmet legal needs of the middle class, identifies “impediments to innovation” in the legal industry, and announces the launch of four pilot programs to help prepare new lawyers for a changing legal landscape.
