A Mexican immigrant forced into prostitution by her husband

Ms. F., an immigrant from Mexico, came to the United States as a young woman with her husband, who forced her to work as a prostitute and kept all of the money that she earned. Ms. F. is afraid to return to her hometown because she does not think that she will be safe. She now knows that her husband's family is an organized crime family and is very connected throughout Mexico. She is afraid that someone affiliated with him might seek revenge against her for cooperating in the criminal case against him. Ms. F. testified against him and his relatives in federal court. After months of therapy, she has begun to recuperate and build a life for herself. She hopes to earn her GED and study nursing.

IWC assisted her with her T visa and interfacing with law enforcement. IWC also assisted her in reuniting with her son, who her husband separated from her as a way to abuse and keep control over her.
