SMALL BUSINESS LEGAL CLINICS
NELP's legal clinics provide microentrepreneurs with the opportunity to speak one-on-one with an attorney regarding their small business legal issues. Frequently discussed topics include: business structure, incorporation, contracts and agreements, commercial leasing, and intellectual property protection. In order to attend one of our legal clinics, you must register in advance. See individual event listings for information about how to register.
MAY
Tuesday, May 1st (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM): A small business legal clinic will be held in partnership with the Brooklyn Public Library's Business Library and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at New York City College of Technology. The event will take place at the Business Library, located at 280 Cadman Plaza West, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Wednesday, May 9th (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM): A small business legal clinic will be held at the NYC Bar Association, located at 42 West 44th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, in Manhattan. This location is easily accessible via the 2 and 5 trains to 3rd Ave - 149th Street. Wednesday, July 11th (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM): A small business legal clinic will be held at the Upper Manhattan NYC Business Solutions Center, located at 215 West 125th Street, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10027. This site is on the same block at the Apollo Theater and is accessible via the A,B,C,D trains and the 2,3 trains to 125th Street. PRESENTATIONS
NELP volunteer attorneys give presentations on small business legal issues at local community development organzations throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Topics include: Determining the Best Structure for your Business, Commercial Leasing, Contracts Basics, Understanding Intellectual Property Rights, Worker Classification: Employee versus Independent Contractor, and others.
APRIL
Tuesday, April 10th (6 PM - 7:30 PM): A presentation on Commercial Leasing will be held at the Brooklyn Business Library, in conjunction with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at New York City College of Technology. The Library is located at 280 Cadman Plaza West, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
