Many of New York's seniors are isolated and lack the financial resources to obtain necessary legal help. The Elderlaw Project, with the help of volunteer attorneys, provides needy seniors with free legal services for life planning, specifically with wills, living wills, healthcare proxies, and powers of attorney. These vital documents allow seniors to express their wishes in advance so that they can be carried out at a later date. In addition, the Project holds community presentations and bi-monthly clinics at senior centers throughout the City. These clinics and forums are a source of valuable information in areas of law that are of particular interest to senior citizens.
