A single mother of an austistic child
Ms. W., a single mother who had to cut her full-time job to part-time in order to care for her autistic daughter, unsuccessfully tried pursuing the child’s father for child support arrears. As a result of her reduced income, she fell behind on her debts.
Ms. W. contacted the Consumer Bankruptcy Project to seek assistance in filing personal bankruptcy. A staff attorney advised Ms. W. of her rights and options, including filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and prepared the petition and schedules for Ms. W. to proceed. Ms. W. was thankful for the legal assistance provided to her and the relief she was able to receive.
