A cancer patient facing domestic violence

Ms. J. is a 32-year-old female diagnosed with end stage lymphoma. She initially came to the United States with her ex-husband, an Egyptian national who was later deported for raping and shooting Ms. J. After this, Ms. J. obtained U Visa Status and was referred to the Cancer Advocacy Project to obtain power-of-attorney and guardianship for her 8-year-old daughter, who is an American citizen. Ms. J was aided by Seth Slotkin of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, who went to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital to facilitate the preparation of these documents.
