|Contemplative Lawyers Group: Emotions and Lawyering|
Thursday, March 22, 2012 7:00 pm-9:00 pm
Event has expired. Registration for this event is no longer available.
The law is supposed to be logical and unemotional, and yet emotions creep into all aspects of law. Some of these aspects include: why laws are passed in the first place; our motivations for practicing law, or perhaps for wanting to stop practicing law; how litigations get settled, or not; how judges pass sentences; and last but maybe not least, how we deal with our colleagues and other professional relationships (not to mention our personal relationships). We’ll discuss all of the above and maybe more. There will be a guided meditation (suitable for beginners), a presentation, and time for discussion.
Speaker: ROBERT CHENDER, Seward & Kissel; founder of the Contemplative Lawyers Group and mindfulness meditation teacher for over 30 years. He also teaches at the Shambhala Center and The Interdependence Project.
Event Location: 42 West 44th St. (bet. 5th & 6th Ave.)
