Most law schools teach a traditional set of lawyering skills, including interviewing, counseling, trial strategy, and negotiation. Are empathy and compassion skills that lawyers should have? If so, can they be taught? The evening will include sitting meditation, a talk, and a chance to ask questions and share reflections.
Speaker: VICTOR GOODE, Associate Professor of Law, CUNY Queens Law School and faculty advisor to the Contemplative Program at CUNY. He was first introduced to meditation practice in 1975 and has experimented with Qi Gong relaxation techniques in his seminar classes to help students relax and focus.
Event Location: 42 West 44th St. (bet. 5th & 6th Ave.)
