| Clarence Darrow: Attorney for the Damned Books at the Bar Thursday, December 1, 2011 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Event has expired. Registration for this event is no longer available. There is far more to the famed defense attorney than the Leopold and Loeb case or the Scopes Monkey Trial, and John A. Farrell’s new biography captures it all. Darrow was a brilliant, complex man. He believed in no God, on Earth or in heaven; stood up for the friendless and forgotten; and can clearly be considered history’s greatest defense attorney. But there are many sides to the man – he began his career representing the railroads in the Gilded Age and nearly lost his license to practice law, as well as his liberty when put on trial for bribing jurors. Farrell’s book examines every aspect of the man’s career and character. Speaker: JOHN A. FARRELL, Author, Clarence Darrow: Attorney for the Damned The program will begin with a reception for the author, followed by a book discussion, questions and answers, and for those interested, a book sale and signing.
Event Location: 42 West 44th St. (bet. 5th & 6th Ave.) |
