According to the Center for Security Policy, an organization whose members include a former Director of the CIA, “shariah’s pursuit in the United States is tantamount to sedition.” Both the Center and notable politicians such as Michele Bachmann have also identified Islamic finance, or Shari’a-compliant finance, as among the most pernicious elements of the Islamist conspiracy to create a worldwide Caliphate. Is that threat real? Or are the efforts by various American States, led by Oklahoma’s “Save Our State” Constitutional Amendment, just religious discrimination cloaked as homeland security?
