| Mediation Settlement Day Kick-Off Event Tuesday, October 18, 2011 4:30 pm-7:30 pm Expert panel discussion on “Mediation in the Mainstream” with the participation of this year’s Mediation Settlement Day Honorary Chair, Michael Sardo, Creator and Executive Producer of USA Network’s Fairly Legal, which features a mediator as its main character. The panel will explore the recent portrayal of mediation in mainstream media and discuss mediation's broad application, including disputes between neighbors, roommates, landlords and tenants, consumers and merchants, business partners, parents, parents and children, families and schools, and intimate partners. (Attorneys in attendance will receive 1.5 CLE credits) An Open House will precede the panel discussion to provide information about law school mediation clinics, mediation service providers and training opportunities for those with an interest in becoming mediators. The event is sponsored by the New York State Unified Court System, FINRA Dispute Resolution, the New York City Bar Association and a coalition of over 100 supporting organizations.
