Lawyers, legal professionals, and law students often accumulate far too many things that must be done. They push their tasks and deadlines ahead of them, like a snowplow with no place to clear the snow, displacing them, taking care of some but never truly arriving at a place of repose. A contemplative practice, such as mindfulness meditation practice, can provide a space to stop, look, and listen. It is at least a respite, at best a vantage point outside of the jumble, from which to clear, reassess, refresh, and return. This program will discuss the function of the space of “stop, look, and listen” generally and with specific regard to the work experience of legal professionals. Speaker:
MARC R. POIRIER, Professor, Seton Hall University School of Law
